Update 1: SGH ongoing investigation - Private Case # 0113

Well, Saturday nights investigation was interesting to say the least. We’re still working on going over the evidence from this past time. And because of the things that have been going on, we have been given permission to include this case in our “Seeking the Haunted” series of documentaries. Of course, since this is still to remain a private case, no names, locations, or anything of the sort will be used.

We seemed to have one mechanical problem after another on this night, so because of this, we were short on video cameras and IR’s, and a couple of our audio recorders decided that they didn’t want to work as well. We were scrambling trying to figure out alternatives. So we did the best we could with what we had to work with.

I can tell you that two very interesting things happened on this last investigation. (we caught part of this on camera) The front door opened and closed as if someone had walked in. In fact, we at first thought it was a team member entering the house until we saw that no one was there. Because of our wires running along the bottom of the door, it didn’t shut all the way, so we began saying, “if it was a spirit that opened the door, please shut it all the way.” After a couple times of asking this, and nothing happening, I said, “the heck with it, the bugs are coming in so I’m gonna close it myself.” As I started to get up and head toward the door to close it completely, the door slammed shut. Very cool if you ask me.

A little back story on the 2nd thing that occurred. (Didn’t catch this on camera, darn it, since we were short on cameras.) We had a previous evp where a female voice said, “the ring, the ring” As we were doing a evidence review with the homeowner and she heard this evp, she informed me that they indeed did find a ring in the house one day and that they had no clue where it came from or who it belonged to. She gave me the ring to use in that nights investigation, so I set it down, and speaking to the female spirit, I told her where it was, and if that were the ring she was speaking of that she could take it.

We took a break. When we came back from break, we discovered that the ring was missing from the spot where I had left it. After doing a search of the house, we did find it again, it was in sitting on a dresser in a little girls bedroom.

At least no one was injured this time. Thank goodness something was in our favor.

SGH ongoing investigation - Private Case # 0113

We have been working on a extremely interesting case and we’ll be making our 3rd visit this weekend to continue to try and get to the bottom of things. It’s a private residential case, but we have permission to post our findings.

On our 1st visit, the wind was outrageous, and the house is quite old and has a tin roof, so the roof, the windows, the whole house was banging and knocking so loud that it ruined any audio from that night. (although we did pick up a female humming Amazing Grace) And if anything did respond to us, we wouldn’t have known it.

Our 2nd visit was quite the opposite…

The last time we were there, we got more interactive evps then we have ever picked up on a case in one night. They blew me away. We got several names, all that we have been able to verify with the homeowners. This case not only involves the house, but the land itself. There’s been several deaths on this land, one being a suicide.

Investigators reported seeing shadow figures. At one point, the EMF was going off, and whatever it was picking up was moving as we followed it.

On any of the cases we have done, we’ve never had an investigator get attacked or hurt in any way by a spirit… Well, that changed on this case. One of our investigators had his back scratched. Another said he was shoved. Why did this happen? Who did it? That’s just a couple of the questions we’re trying to find the answers to.

Building that new guest room for a ghost?

We receive many request for investigations from people living in older homes who are suddenly experiencing what is believed to be paranormal activity. More often then not, we discover that the sudden activity is due to remodeling.

It has been our experience, and that of many other investigators through the years, that paranormal activity will occur or increase in places going through changes, such as remodeling or adding on to the structure. Houses that were never reported haunted can suddenly erupt with activity and scare the owners or make them think they’ve lost their minds.

Accounts of activity in cases such as these can range from almost destructive behavior to simple curiosity. Such as throwing objects, moving things from one space to another, to seeing an apparition peering around a corner to observe what you’re doing within their space.

It’s all pretty easy to understand if you think about how you’d feel if strangers moved into your home where you’ve put your life into its upkeep, shared family ties, and started changing it. We’re all protective of our own homes, I’d be curious, or perhaps, even furious, too.

So, if you are changing things in your home, tearing down walls, or building walls for that guest room and begin to feel strongly as if you are being spied upon… you might be. So go ahead and get out the extra set of bed linens and prepare that new guest room for your extra ghostly guest.

Overlapping Dimensions? Time Warp?

The recent episode of Taps got me to thinking again about something that’s always been in the back of my mind. On the last episode they captured an amazing evp. You can hear it below

The evp is clear, and it’s almost like the spirit is living her normal everyday life, and TAPS are the ghosts.

“First the spirit says, “Hello, is someone there?” after Jason and Grant entered the room and speak.

Then when Jason says, ” Princess, can you let us know you’re in here.” The response was, “Of course I’m in here, where are you?”

That response leads me to believe that just like they couldn’t see her, she couldn’t see them either. Two different dimensions that are overlapping somehow? Or some type of time warp? But what about the spirits people have encountered who seem to look right at you, and sometimes flee /vanish when seen? If this person, the princess, was indeed a person who lived and died at one time and is in spirit form and still living in that room, using that bed, is she still living in her past, and the members of Taps were the ghost to her?

What’s your opinion? Did that evp make you think along the same lines as I have?

Unity vs United

On our Mind

There’s been a lot of discussion going around lately about Para- Unity. There’s many who don’t like this word, or the meaning.
uni·ty
Function:noun
1 a: the quality or state of not being multiple : oneness b (1): a definite amount taken as one or for which 1 is made to stand in calculation
(2): identity element
2 a: a condition of harmony : accord b: continuity without deviation or change (as in purpose or action)
3 a: the quality or state of being made one : unification b: a combination or ordering of parts in a literary or artistic production that constitutes a whole or promotes an undivided total effect; also : the resulting singleness of effect or symmetry and consistency of style and character

So, what I’m seeing is that people who may have had good intentions in the beginning are not getting very far using this term. Instead of creating what they hoped for, the term used is driving a wedge right down the middle of the paranormal field.

Since you’re a member of this site, you must have noticed that I gave it the name of Southern Paranormal United. I did this intentionally. Unity, and United are two different words with two different meanings.

The adj for unity is:
u·nit·ed
1. Combined into a single entity.
2. Concerned with, produced by, or resulting from mutual action.
3. Being in harmony; agreed.

A blog was posted on a site today that although I respected the opinions, and agreed with some of what was being said, there were a couple items that I didn’t quite agree with, so I posted a reply. I was afraid that I might actually take a beating over the head from someone toting a bat, (no, not you, Debi lol) but instead, so far, the opposite happened. I was thanked for my words from someone who used the term ‘unity’ and seemed to be in a battle with others over it. In fact, this person asked if they could use my post on their site. So, I decided to share my post with y’all. Most of my reply follows.
———————–
I’m not keeping up with the whole unity movement, but I will say that being UNITED is not such a bad thing. I don’t use the tern ‘unity’ myself, I prefer the adjective, ‘united.’ I’m not an idiot, nor living in some fantasy world of my own creation, but yes, I believe groups can be united in respect of the single goal. I’m an individual within a group of people because of our similarities, meaning we all are searching for the same answers. A group of people, small or large, can be united and still have their own thoughts, ideas, make decisions, and still work together toward the common goal. There can and should be discussion and debate to help reach that goal.

I think of the paranormal field as a huge company, and embedded within that company is many divisions, but each division is all working toward the same thing, each one is looking for the same answers. They may go about it differently, but the reward is the same. The big boss is the paranormal community at large, meaning no one can dictate to the other what they should think. Opinions, suggestions, alternatives can be offered and be used if wished by the individual divisions. Each unit has many brains intertwined which make up the whole of the community, therefor, many thoughts, decisions, opinions, beliefs, etc… . Of course there’s going to be some problems, there’s going to be disagreements, there’s going to be debates, but that is how we grow as people, as individuals, as groups, and as a whole.

The term united does not mean robots all playing follow the leader, nor does it mean that one is better then the other, or that one is more intelligent then the other.
What it means is what the definition above states:
Combined - groups which make up the paranormal field as a whole.

Harmony - working together respectively for the common goal.

Mutual action - directed and received by each toward the other; reciprocal: mutual respect.

As anyone can probably tell, I am a huge believer in respect. A small word, but a word with a big meaning.

Now, I do not believe in this company of ours called the paranormal field having a board of trustees to dictate to any of the divisions. That is not the right way to go about achieving being united. However, each individual group could and should work together. Some of the egos in this field have got to go. There is no one out there better than myself, and I am no better than anyone else when it comes to this field. Not a one of us are ‘experts’ on the paranormal. There’s no such thing in this field. Some may have more knowledge on a certain subject, but if they shared that knowledge with everyone else respectively, then everyone would be on the same level on that subject. The individual may not agree with what they offer, but it was offered, and it’s up to the person to use or accept it.

Does my thoughts on all this mean it will happen, and we’ll be one big, perfect, respectful, loving community? I highly doubt it, there are some who are just too damn stubborn in their ways of thinking and won’t allow themselves to think out side the norm. But does it mean we as individuals , as groups, should work toward that goal for the common good of all? My opinion is yes, we should.

This was written with respect to every single one of you and your opinions, whether you agree with anything I’ve said or not, that’s okay, too. It’s just my own opinion of what I believe, and what I would like to see occur.

Respect - a vanishing act?

On Our Mind

A year has passed and a new year has started, and so far, it hasn’t started off great which has prompted me to write this and put it all on the table for anyone who may want to pick at the leftover pieces of my mind. So be prepared for a bit of a rant if you continue to read this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve never been one for writing blogs, or ranting, I normally just keep things to myself because I’m always afraid of saying something that will hurt someone’s feelings, or saying something that will set someone off in the wrong direction, or a thousand of other reasons. I’m not one of those people who enjoys confrontation, arguing for the sake of arguing, or trying to destroy the dignity of another.
I’ll start off by saying that this isn’t toward any individual or group, but for people in general. I’ve met some great people and made many friends on the Internet and in life, some that I’ve come to know and trust. I’ve learned a lot from others in their own experiences and opinions about things.
I know when you put yourself out there, especially on the internet, it may bring criticism, and that’s fine, I’m a writer and I’m use to constructive criticism, but being rude in any criticism is not the way to go about anything. That’s one thing I’ve always despised about the Internet. Some people think they can say or act any way they choose because they’re not face to face with you but hidden behind a computer screen.
Being a paranormal investigator, we open ourselves up to all kinds of criticism. We need to handle things diplomatically with those who perhaps don’t believe, we have to handle questions with the best of our knowledge or experience from clients, or those looking for help in some form or another, or just to the general population. But there are those who need to learn the facts before they write things on a whim. Please don’t judge a person, persons, or even a group, for something they do, or have done without knowing the facts, or perhaps trying to learn who that person or group are as human beings first. If someone feels they just can’t go on without saying something, then by all means do it, but take the time to think about what you’re saying first. Think about how it might make the other person feel, how you’re trying to get your point across to that person. There are those who need to stop adding their altitude along with their writing, in email, comments, blogs, and so on. No one has to be mean or nasty when making a point, giving their opinion, or even critiquing what a person does, or how they do it. Kindness will get a person a lot further and garner them the respect.
I’m a friendly person, I like to laugh and joke, I love ghost hunting, talking and learning from others and learning about others, working with the team, who have all become great friends, working with websites, editing video, doing graphics, writing novels. I try to help whenever or however I can, if you need me, then I’m there for you if at all possible. But a person may never know me or how I am if they come at me with nothing but attitude and meanness, they’ll not get my respect. They will miss out on a potential friend. Maybe they don’t need or want another friend, and that’s fine, too. Me, I’ll take all the friends I can get, I don’t want to go to the great beyond living a life without friendships, love, and respect. I’d like to meet up on the other side with the friends I made and perhaps discuss how wrong we were in our assumptions, or how right we were. “Hey, remember when we thought orbs were just dust in our photos? Damn, who knew we’d be considered as dust one day.”
I’ve seen so much going on behind the scenes, especially in the paranormal community, and it hurts my heart to see it. There are times when I think we’re starting to sound like a bunch of gangs from across the country in one big turf war. I’ve heard things about where one group will join another for an investigation, only to turn around and start bashing them for the way they do things. I’ve seen several groups in the same area battle against each other for their “turf”. I’ve seen groups who fight against each other to be the ones who end up in the newspaper, or on the news, or whatever. What happen to respect? What happened to the reasons most of us started doing this in the first place? And hopefully that reason wasn’t to become famous, or get rich, but if fame and fortune somehow dropped in your lap, then good for you, but I hope you keep your integrity, I hope you’ll remember that you’re not only representing yourself, but the paranormal community as a whole.
All groups should work together, not against one another. Everyone does things differently, everyone has their own opinions about things, everyone handles their cases in their own way, so instead of bashing someone for their way of things, learn from each other. Every one has something they can teach to some one else, and every one can learn from that other person or group. There’s enough war in this world without adding our own. We should all try and set a better example.
I guess this will be the end of this part of my rant, there’s more but I decided to save it and maybe chew on it awhile. Maybe this will teach me not to keep so many things bottled up until it explodes all over the page. I hope no one takes offense at anything said, it was not my intention at all, and if anyone does take offense, I sincerely apologize.
Mutterings, Thoughts, Questions
Now this may seem strange to some, but it’s just the curiosity sparking in my mind. In January of this year, my daughter saw what she believed to be a UFO at our home. I trust her 100%, but as I always do, I immediately began asking questions as to what she saw, heard, felt, etc. Then I put the word out to see if others in our area had witnessed anything that night, and the answers I got back confirmed that some did. I started doing research on the web to see if there had been any other sightings during that time period from any where else, and it seems there was through the month.
Now here’s where the strangeness comes in. Some may think I’m about two sandwich’s shy of a picnic, but I haven’t lost it, yet. During that month, I also noticed that there were many, many reports of paranormal activity increasing. So I began wondering, “is there any correlation between the two events.” I don’t know, but it did put the idea in my head. I know it would take a lot of research, comparison charts, and so forth, for a considerable amount of time to try and find out. Has anyone beside me ever thought of something like this?
Children and the Spirit World
Written by SGH member, Debra King
Often times the question is asked ; “Do children see spirits?” I have absolutely no doubt that the answer is YES! Children, especially babies and toddlers, have just so recently come from the spirit world that it is much easier for them to recognize and relate to angels, spirits, and ghost. Add in the fact that they are completely innocent and have not been programmed by the outside world NOT to believe, and you have an unbiased witness to a possible paranormal event.
I will never forget an event in my son’s life that happened just short of his 2nd birthday. As I was changing his diaper on his changing table he suddenly became very still. Staring at the ceiling he pointed up and said “gategandaddy”. I told him “no, baby, great-grandaddy is in the nursing home”. My son became very agitated, arms and legs flailing, and said “no, mama, gategandaddy up there.” Now mind you even though I am both a sensitive and a seer, I have to close myself off from certain places like my house otherwise I would be bombarded by the dead trying to make contact. Even still I did feel a slight chill above me and immediately looked up. Nothing there. I looked back down at my son and asked him “where, honey”. He said “he’s gone now, mama”. I shrugged this off (knowing better I suppose) until about an hour later when my father called to let me know that my grandfather had passed away about an hour before. As I sat in my recliner crying my son crawled up in my arms and asked what was wrong. I told him that mommy was ok, but that great-grandaddy had gone to heaven to live with the angels. In his best adult impression for a two year old he put his hands on his hips and said “I told you that”.
I also lost his twin, Lauren, although I have never mentioned her name or existence to him. Strangely enough I can be cleaning house while he plays alone in his playroom, and I can hear him talking to someone in that room. Many times he has used her name and even argued over a toy with her. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.
My point here is that children do in fact see spirits because they are still closely tied to that realm. It is only because we, as adults, tell them that imaginary friends do not exist or that they are making things up that they begin to block these images and visions. As they get older they lose their innocence and simply forget. But what if we don’t discourage them? Instead why don’t we tell them that angels do in fact visit (ghost may be a strong word for a toddler and in turn cause nightmares with the whole hyped up Halloween thing). Explain to them that angels come down to watch over them and to play with them. Ask them to describe the angels and ask for names. Try keeping a journal of what your child tells you.
You may be surprised to discover that indeed your loved ones are still watching over you through the eyes of your child.
